On a recent visit to Palm Beach, I found myself sketching in a perfect little garden of sensual delights. It seemed as though the mist mixed with the fragrance of the flowers causing the atmosphere to become drenched with a heady perfume. Water droplets clinging to the flower petals sparkled in the mid-day sun. When I got back to my studio and began to lay on swates of pigment with my palette knife, I wanted to convey the wonderful sense of freedom I'd felt that afternoon. |
